Laurel Lupien

Laurel Lupien is a portrait and documentary photographer who is interested in photography as a medium for storytelling. Their work deals primarily with themes of identity — especially LGBTQ+ identity — and nostalgia. This showcase is part of Laurel's series inspired by Mitski's 2014 album Bury Me At Makeout Creek, which deals with themes of loneliness, heartbreak, growing up, and the search for identity. The universal appeal of these themes assures everyone can relate to the story told within these images without necessarily knowing the music that inspired them.
