Zhongqi Liu

Originally from China, Zhongqi Liu is a Toronto-based portrait and documentary photographer noted for her intimate approach, explorative lighting, and nostalgic colour. Attentive to sentimental details, she perceives shifts in mood and captures subtle and candid changes in expression. These images are part of a larger series that documents traditional Chinese medicine from a contemporary perspective. Informed by her strong sense of narrative, Zhongqi seeks to interpret traditional Chinese aesthetics of holistic medicine and wellbeing for a contemporary Western audience.
